Does Medicare Cover Routine Eye Care?
Medicare does not cover routine eye care exams. There are some eye exams and screenings that Medicare covers. Treatment for Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma Screenings are two types covered under Medicare's Diabetic Services. Intermediate opthalmological services, which pertain to evaluating new or existing conditions that accompany a new diagnostic or management problem, are also covered. Ask your doctor to determine your coverage.
How Much Do You Pay?
You are responsible for 100% of the charges for routine eye examinations.
