Does Medicare Cover a Urinalysis?
A urinalysis is an examination of urine on the physical, chemical and microscopic level. Only those patients that show signs or symptoms of a kidney or urinary tract disorder or have a condition that is known to affect the kidney or urinary tract will have their charges covered by Medicare. In order for Medicare to cover the charges, the symptoms or diagnosis must be documented.
How Much Do I Pay?
Medicare will cover 100% of the allowed amount of the clinical lab services including the urinalysis.
You must pay your deductible for any Medicare Part B services and supplies before Medicare begins to pay its share. If a doctor, health care provider or supplier does not accept assignment, the amount you pay may be higher.
