Herpes TestsHow To PrepareIf you may have
genital herpes, do not have sexual contact until your
test results are back. You can lower the chance of spreading the disease to
your partner(s). If a sample from the urethra will be collected, do not urinate for
2 hours before the test. For women, if a cervical sample will be collected, do not douche
for 24 hours before the test.
