Who is affected by developmental dysplasia of the hip About 1 in 100 newborns may have some form of
developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). But a
complete hip dislocation occurs in about 1 to 2 in 1,000 newborns.1 - If only one hip is affected, it is about 3 times
more likely to be the left hip.2
- DDH
occurs about 5 times more often in girls than boys.2
